Sotuminu’s death painful loss, says Governor Sanwo-Olu

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has described the passing of veteran journalist Dapo Sotuminu as a great and painful loss to the deceased family, colleagues, and the media industry.
Mr Sanwo-Olu, in a statement on Thursday by his spokesman, Gboyega Akosile, noted that Mr Sotuminu made a positive impact in the media profession, especially sports reporting, for many decades.
“The death of Dapo Sotuminu was heartbreaking, considering his contribution to journalism. It is a great loss to the media industry, and he will be greatly missed.
“He made lots of positive impact during his lifetime, contributing meaningfully to the growth and development of journalism in Nigeria as well as sports at the state and federal levels,” he said.
While commiserating with the Lagos State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), the governor, Mr Sotuminu’s family, associates, and colleagues prayed that God would grant the deceased eternal life.
Mr Sotuminu gave up the ghost at the hospital he was rushed to after he suddenly fell ill at home.
He was deputy sports editor at both TNT Newspapers and New Telegraph Newspapers. He was the sports editor at the Compass Newspapers.
Mr Sotuminu also served as the communications director of the Nigeria Women’s Football League and media director of Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.
