Nigerians should prepare for dust haze, sunshine Saturday to Monday: NiMet

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has predicted dust haze and sunshine from Saturday to Monday across the nation.
NiMet’s weather outlook on Friday envisaged a slight dust haze over the northern region on Saturday.
According to the agency, a slight dust haze is anticipated over the North-Central region throughout the forecast period. In the southern region, sunny skies with patches of clouds are anticipated, with prospects of morning mists over parts of Lagos and Ogun.
Isolated thunderstorms with light rains are expected over parts of Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Cross River and Akwa Ibom during the afternoon and evening hours.
According to the agency, a slight dust haze is anticipated over the northern region on Sunday.
NiMet envisaged a slight dust haze over the region throughout the forecast period in the North-Central region.
It anticipated thunderstorms in the southern region with light rains over parts of Rivers, Cross River and Akwa Ibom in the afternoon and evening hours.
According to NiMet, moderate dust haze is expected on Monday in the northern region.
It predicted horizontal visibility of one kilometre to three kilometres with localised visibility of less than or equal to 1,000m over the northern region throughout the forecast period.
The agency forecast a slight dust haze over the North-Central region throughout the forecast period.
NiMet anticipated sunny skies in the southern region with patches of clouds throughout the forecast period.
Dust particles are in suspension; the public should take necessary precautions.
“People with asthmatic health conditions and other respiratory issues should be cautious of the present weather condition. Strong winds may precede the rains in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur. The public should take adequate precaution,” it said.
