Task force arrests 53 suspected drug dealers, users with illicit substances in Lagos

Officials of the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce (LAGESCO), on Tuesday, arrested 53 suspected drug dealers and users and recovered several illicit substances.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a statement, said the suspects were arrested during a raid of some black spots in the metropolis.
According to the commissioner, the raids and arrests followed discreet surveillance exercises at the black spots.
“The sting operation led to the arrest of 53 suspected dealers and users of illicit substances who have turned the entire area into a safe haven for illicit drug activities,” said Mr Wahab.
The commissioner stated that, “a significant quantity of different illicit drugs, including Colorado, substances suspected to be Kanedian Loud Hemp, tramadol capsules, codeine syrups, several illicit substances, weighing scales, packs of Indian hemp crushers, knives, amongst others were recovered from the suspects.”
He said locations where the operations were carried out include the notorious 31 Road junction, Bless Jah Street, Adenle Crescent, Owo Omo Osho Street, all in Gowon Estate and a part of Okunola Road in Mosan-Okunola LCDA in Alimosho LGA.
He said all the arrested suspects will be charged to court accordingly.
