Zamfara: Lawmaker receives 1,500 PDP, APGA, YPP defectors to APC

Aminu Jaji (APC-Zamfara) has received 1,500 defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party, All Progressive Grand Alliance and Young Progressive Party to the All Progressives Congress.
Mr Jaji, the House Committee on Ecological Fund chairman, represents Birnin Magaji/Kaura Namoda federal constituency.
This was announced in a statement on Monday. It said the defectors included the leaders and supporters of PDP, APGA, YPP and other political parties in Zamfara.
Mr Jaji commended the decampees who joined APC through the Jajiyyaa political movement.
The lawmaker described the defectors’ action as a welcome development for the APC.
Mr Jaji assured the decampees of fair treatment and good working relationships to enhance the state’s party’s capacity.
He expressed confidence that the calibre of the defectors, especially the leaders of other political parties, would boost the strength of the Jajiyya movement.
According to the statement, prominent politicians among the decampees included the former state APGA chairman, Rabi’u Salisu-Bature, with hundreds of APGA members across Zamfara.
The defectors include the state YPP chairman, Sani Anka, and hundreds of YPP members, a PDP leader from the Shinkafi LGA, a former director-general, Nasiru Yusuf, Shinkafi PDP elder, Ibrahim Tado, PDP’s women’s leader in Shinkafi LGA, Abu Alasan and the PDP youth leader in the LGA, Lukman Hamidu.
Other defectors are Zainab Aliyu-Lawyer, Mas’udu Wada and Babangida Adamu, among other PDP supporters from Shinkafi LGA.
