Biden pardons about 1,500 Americans, largest number in one day

Two weeks after granting presidential pardon to his son for firearms and tax convictions, President Joe Biden’s administration has issued pardons for nearly 1,500 individuals.
The pardon, announced by the White House in a statement on Thursday, comes as the largest number of pardons granted by a sitting U.S. president in a single day.
Many of those receiving pardons had been placed in home confinement during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Among them, 39 individuals were serving sentences for non-violent offences, including marijuana possession.
This latest wave of clemency follows the president’s decision to pardon his son, Hunter Biden, for tax and firearms convictions and any other potential offences committed between January 1, 2014, and December 1, 2024.
