UK prime minister loses brother to cancer

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has lost his younger brother, Nick, who succumbed to cancer on December 26 at 60.
The 62-year-old prime minister paid tribute to his late brother in a statement, describing him as a courageous person with good humour.
Mr Starmer said, “My brother Nick was a wonderful man. He met all the challenges life threw at him with courage and good humour.”
“We will miss him very much. I would like to thank all those who treated and took care of Nick. Their skill and compassion is very much appreciated,” he added.
Following the loss, Mr Starmer’s planned Christmas holiday with his family at Chequers, his official country residence, before going abroad for the New Year will not go ahead.
Aside from the prime minister, the late Nick was survived by his sisters, Katy and Anna.
Nick Starmer was said to have suffered learning disabilities from complications during birth and had difficulty in doing a steady job.
