Nigerian entertainer Davido and over 200,000 other Nigerians have signed a petition demanding President Muhammadu Buhari’s prosecution at the International Criminal Court over the brutal killing of unarmed protesters late Tuesday at the Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos

At least nine people were killed when soldiers opened fire on protesters singing the national anthem at about 7:00 p.m., Peoples Gazette reported.

Analysis firm Dataphyte says at least 68 people have been killed in the violence unleashed against protesters by thugs and state agents.

The petition to probe Mr. Buhari at the Netherlands-based world crimes tribunal was initiated on Change.org by Kayode Ogunfeibo and endorsed by 205,349 Nigerians at about 5:30 p.m Wednesday.

The petition partly reads: “This is the latest in a long series of human rights abuses in Nigeria and as the Head of State of Nigeria President Mohammadu Buhari should be held directly responsible for this heinous crime against humanity.”

Mr. Buhari, a former military dictator, has refused to address the nation three weeks into the worldwide protests to end police brutality in Nigeria.
