Lagos ruler installs Seriki Fulani in Badagry

The ruler of the Kweme kingdom in Badagry, Oba Sejiro James, the Aholu of Kweme, has installed Mohammed Umar as the Seriki Fulani of Badagry.
Fulani socio-cultural organisations in the South-West and neighbouring Benin Republic graced the coronation.
Presenting him with the traditional staff and beads at Sito Gbethrome community along the Semé expressway in Badagry, Mr James said, “Though the stool you are on is too high, you have been endorsed by God today, and He will be guarding you.”
The traditional ruler urged the new Seriki Fulani to always be on top of situations in Badagry communities. According to him, there have been issues between pastoralists and farmers in Badagry. He urged him to have someone in his cabinet who would represent him in some other communities in Badagry so that he would be on top of things.
Saidu Yusuf, the chairman of the APC for Arewa communities in Lagos State, urged Fulani and Yoruba to join hands to achieve their goals of unity and growth.
Mr Yusuf said they should put politics aside and work to develop their communities.
Mohammed Laba, the Seriki Fulani of Abeokuta and chairman of Meyiti Allah in the South-West, said the installation of such leaders played a great role in resolving conflicts.
Aminu Dogara, the chairman of the Arewa Council of Chiefs in Lagos, said his people would continue to remain committed to the welfare and well-being of all residents.
In his address, the new Seriki Fulani assured that he would work to address his people’s pressing issues of poverty, education and healthcare.
