Manager arraigned for allegedly stealing employer’s N3.9 million

A 31-year-old company manager, Ifedayo Ayodele, on Thursday appeared before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly stealing N3.9 million belonging to his employer,
Ayodele, whose address was not provided, was charged with stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Akeem Akinloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in November, 2024 at Market Monie Ltd, Challenge branch, Ibadan.
Mr Akinloye said the defendant, who is the manager of the company, collected the sum of N3.9 million from a customer, Ajose Olasunkanmi, but failed to remit the money to the company’s account.
The prosecutor said that the defendant converted the money to his personal use.
Mr Akinloye said the offence contravened Section 383 and punishable under Section 390 (6) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Chief Magistrate, Olabisi Ogunkanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
Ms Ogunkanmi said one of the sureties must be related to the defendant, while the second sureties should own a landed property.
She adjourned the case until April 24, for mention.
