Zamfara lawmaker offers scholarship to 50 polytechnic students

The lawmaker representing Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency in Zamfara, Abdulmalik Zubairu, has offered scholarships to 50 students in his constituency to study at the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, Zamfara.
Mr Zubairu, represented by his assistant on strategy, media, and communications, Aminu Lawal, presented the letters for the scholarship to the beneficiaries at the polytechnic on Wednesday.
He said that the gesture was aimed at sponsoring orphans and the less privileged to pursue further education.
He also said that the beneficiaries were drawn from Maru and Bungudu Local Government Areas.
The lawmaker further said that the beneficiaries were to do national and higher national diplomas in various programmes.
“This is part of my education intervention programmes aimed at enhancing the education sector in my constituency.
“Each of the beneficiaries was provided with an admission form, full payment of registration fees, accommodation, and other expenses.
“This is just one among many batches of beneficiaries of our scholarship scheme targeting less privileged students in my constituency,” Mr Zubairu said.
According to him, under the scheme, hundreds of other students studying in various universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education within and outside the state also received sponsorship.
“I urge you to be good ambassadors; we are going to rate you based on character and academic performance,” he said.
Also speaking, the registrar of the institution, Mahi Isah-Kaura, described the gesture as timely, considering the economic hardship faced by students.
Mr Isah-Kaura, represented by the Dean of Students Affairs, Kabiru Muhammad, urged the beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity given to them and ensure the successful completion of their studies.
“This is the first of its kind in the history of this institution for a lawmaker to sponsor a large number of less-privileged students to further their education.
“We urge other well-to-do individuals to emulate the lawmaker,” the registrar said.
