Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos has reiterated his commitment to deepen bilateral relations with Rwanda to foster economic growth and development.

Mr Sanwo-Olu made the pledge during a courtesy visit by the High Commissioner of Rwanda to Nigeria, Amb. Christopher Bazivamo, on Wednesday in Lagos.

He acknowledged the excellent relationship between the leadership of the two countries.

The governor assured that Lagos would continue to partner with willing international bodies to attract more investment and development opportunities.

“This partnership aims to create more job opportunities for the youth and replicate Rwanda’s International Finance centre in Lagos.

“The collaborations will enhance knowledge sharing to infrastructure development and management.

“Lagos is not just the Centre of Excellence, in Lagos, we pride ourselves as Africa Model Mega City in terms of economic power seat which can be compared next to some African countries,” he said.

Mr Sanwo-Olu noted that Lagos would continue to attract, retain and encourage investment into the country.

“This is an international financial centre. So, we will continue to partner and collaborate for the purpose of socioeconomic development.

“Therefore, this collaboration will encourage exchange of ideas and expertise to enhance human capital development,” he said.

He said that several complementary opportunities can be brought about from the two destinations.

“The partnership will  improve environmental sanitation, sustainable green ecosystem, agricultural productivity and food security.

“It will also promote sustainable environmental practices and reduce carbon footprint,” Mr Sanwo-Olu added.

Responding, Mr Bazivamo praised Mr Sanwo-Olu’s administration for its resilience and doggedness since 2019.

He commended the governor’s significant strides in transport infrastructure development.

Mr Bazivamo stated that the Rwanda team would understudy Lagos for more knowledge and skills.

He expressed Rwanda’s readiness to partner with Lagos in finance, innovation, economic development and agriculture.

Mr Bazivamo added that Rwanda had approved visa-free entry for all ECOWAS partners, urging Lagosians to take advantage of the opportunity.

“This strengthened partnership between Lagos State and Rwanda is expected to yield mutual benefits, drive economic growth and development in both regions,” he said.
