Unknown gunmen have kidnapped six workers at a mining site in Kogi.

They are workers of a ceramic company located at Itobe, Kogi.

Police spokesman William Aya told journalists in Lokoja on Wednesday that the gunmen kidnapped the workers on Tuesday.

Mr Aya added that the gunmen abducted the workers at one of the company’s mining sites located at Emiworo community in the Ajaokuta local government area.

He, however, pointed out that the firm informed the police about the incident on Wednesday morning.

The kidnappers, said to be heavily armed, overpowered the workers before marching them into a bush.

Mr Aya further disclosed that the police were collaborating with other security agencies to free the victims and arrest the kidnappers.

He assured that the victims would be rescued unhurt.

Meanwhile, Asanah Shaibu, whose husband, Hassan Shaibu, was among the abducted workers, has appealed to the police to rescue her husband and other victims.

”Yes, my husband was among those ceramic workers kidnapped in Emiworo.

”We have yet to hear anything from their abductors. As I speak to you, I am confused and I don’t know where to go,” Mrs Shaibu said.
