The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Niger on Tuesday urged motorists to drive carefully in the metropolis to avoid unwanted accidents.

Kumar Tsukwam, sector commander of FRSC, told journalists in Minna that a woman was crushed by a truck, and the incident would have been avoided if the parties had been careful.

He said the accident occurred on February 9 at the Saint John Junction, Bida.

The victim, identified as Safiya, was on a motorcycle with her husband when the accident occurred.

It was said that the woman fell off the motorcycle when the husband suddenly accosted a truck and swerved to avoid a collision with the oncoming truck.

The woman was said to have fallen off the motorcycle, and the truck driver crushed her.

The deceased has been laid to rest according to Islamic rites.
