The Federal Ministry of Education has inaugurated a seven-member committee to address bullying in schools while reinforcing its commitment to students’ welfare and a safe learning environment.

This is contained in a statement by Folasade Boriowo, the ministry’s spokesperson, in Abuja on Tuesday.

Ms Boriowo quoted the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, to have emphasised the urgent need for effective interventions, citing the psychological impact of bullying on students.

Mr Alausa said the committee would review reported cases and ensure swift action, complementing the 21-member team working on a national policy on anti-bullying.

He added that the ministry had introduced some channels to facilitate confidential reporting, including Hotline: 09012660044
Email: antibullying@education.gov.ng
WhatsApp: 08052536133.

Mr Alausa reiterated the ministry’s zero-tolerance stance on bullying and urged school administrators, teachers, parents, and students to support the initiative.
