Kill off remaining Boko Haram, ISWAP terrorists, GOC orders troops

The acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, Brig.-Gen. Abdulwahab Eyitayo has ordered Nigerian troops to kill off remaining Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists.
Mr Eyitayo praised the troops’ fighting spirit and doggedness against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists across the theatre of operation in his maiden operational tour of 24 Task Force Brigade, Dikwa, Special Intervention Battalion IV and Mobile Strike Team 16 in New Marte recently.
The Nigerian Army spokesman Onyema Nwachukwu disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
The GOC, also the commander sector 1, Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), commended the troops’ high alertness and fighting spirit in recent encounters with the terrorists.
Mr Eyitayo urged them to sustain the momentum and ensure they completely kill off remnants of the terrorists as he conveyed the appreciation of the Chief of Army Staff, Maj.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya to the troops for their gallantry in the fight against insurgency.
The GOC further stated that the army chief was determined to ensure that adequate equipment and logistics are made available to enhance their fighting efficiency, adding that troops’ welfare was paramount to him.
Further, Mr Eyitayo assured the troops of prompt support from the Air Component Task Force, emphasising that synergy amongst the armed forces and other security agencies was a force multiplier essential for operational success.
He disclosed that rotation was ongoing in the theatre as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari, urging them to remain focused, vigilant, and committed. Those due for rotation would be rotated, he said.
Mr Eyitayo stated that his visit was necessitated by the need to evaluate and address security and operational challenges and issues bordering on the welfare of the troops.
