Three men in court over alleged theft of iron rods, wires

Three men, Isah Zaiyanu, 32, Bashiru Muhammed,24, and Yasir Usman, 20, were on Tuesday arraigned in an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of iron rods and wires.
The defendants, of unknown addresses, are facing a charge of possession of iron rods and wires.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on February 21, at about 11:30 a.m in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendants, who are scavengers, had in their possession pieces of iron rods, wires and iron materials suspected to have been stolen.
Mr Oriyomi said the offence contravened Section 345 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.
Counsel to the defendants, Oluwafemi Alabi, urged the court to grant the defendants bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N10, 000 with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until March 27, for hearing.
