Jay-Z sues woman for defamation over rape allegation

American rapper Jay-Z has sued an anonymous woman for defamation after she accused him of rape.
According to reports, a woman identified as Jane Doe in court documents accused Jay-Z and Diddy of sexually assaulting her.
She claimed the incident happened at an afterparty after the 2000 MTV VMA Awards when she was just 13 years old.
Jay-Z filed a defamation lawsuit against the woman in a federal court in Alabama, accusing her legal team of orchestrating the lawsuit to tarnish his professional and personal reputation.
His lawsuit names the woman and her lawyers, Tony Buzbee and David Fortney, claiming they knowingly pursued false accusations against him.
According to Jay-Z’s lawyers, the woman admitted to his representatives that her allegations were false.
His lawyers said she admitted to making up the story. They claimed she told Jay-Z’s representatives that her allegations were false and malicious.
In an NBC News interview, the woman admitted she had “made some mistakes.”
She claimed her father picked her up after the assault, but he did not recall doing so. She also said she spoke to a musician at the afterparty, but records showed he was on tour.
The lawsuit said Jay-Z’s reputation was damaged and that Roc Nation lost over $20 million, and he was seeking a jury trial as well.
Buzbee dismissed the lawsuit, calling the quotes “completely made up.” He said it was an attempt to “intimidate and bully” Jane Doe.
Jay-Z had sued Buzbee before, accusing him of extortion.
A judge considered dropping that claim but let the defamation case continue.
In a new affidavit, Jane Doe said two men visited her home, claiming to work for Jay-Z’s lawyers. She said they pressured her to recant, but she refused.
She later said she dropped her lawsuit out of fear of Jay-Z, his fans, and public attacks.
