The chief of defence staff, Christopher Musa, has urged Muslims to pray for unity and peace in Nigeria during Ramadan.

Mr Musa made the call at the Ifta (break of fast) with Muslims in the Armed Forces of Nigeria on Thursday in Abuja.

“So I want to encourage us, in whatever ways we find ourselves, let us always remember that God Almighty is the one who has created us, brought us to this world, and has put us as Nigerians.

“We need to be a part of this world and we need to continue to stay together, to walk together, to love one another. That is the only way we can make this country grow.

“Let us continue to pray for our country, so that our country will continue to grow and develop. All those evil ones are planning evil, whether they are bandits or terrorists or kidnappers, God will expose all of them and those supporting them,” he said.

The chief imam of the Defence Headquarters, Gidado Migdad, said the Ramadan fast is an annual bonanza from Allah to multiply, reward and quadruple the chances of getting closer to Him.

Mr Migdad said that those chances could be achieved by showing kindness to the less privileged and being empathetic to the plight of the poor.
