The Confederation of All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Groups says with prayer, the country will overcome its challenges.

The group’s director-general, Kailani Muhammad, said this on Thursday night at the annual Iftar programme organised for its members, friends and associates in Abuja.

Mr Muhammad believed that with prayers, Nigeria would overcome the problems of kidnapping, banditry, corruption and other vices that hinder its growth and development.

“The only few problems that we have as a country can be overcome with prayers—the issues of armed banditry, corruption and inciting narratives,” he said.

He urged Christians and Muslims to use the Lent and Ramadan fasting period to pray for peace and unity in Nigeria.

Mr Muhammad said the annual break of the fast programme was organised for Nigerians, irrespective of religion and tribe, to show the spirit of unity and brotherhood.

“You can see both Muslims and Christians are here; that is the spirit of unity and brotherhood. We pray to Allah to give us peace and unity in Nigeria, and we also hope that the way things are going, Allah will guide us to the right path,” he said.

According to him, Ramadan and Lent coming at the same time signifies true nationalism and patriotism.

“For example, when a Catholic is entrusted with a position, he knows that one day he is going to be answerable to his Creator, the same thing with the Muslims, we believe in hereafter, after death.

“So, when somebody is given a position, he should be able to think that one day, he will be no more. So, he should do it to the best of his knowledge with trust, fear of God and sincerity,” Mr Muhammad said.
