The Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu, Yobe State, Dr Ibrahim Bello, has ordered absent contractors to return to their sites immediately and improve the quality of their work.

Mr Bello issued the directive after expressing dissatisfaction with the quality and progress of ongoing projects during his tour of the institution’s departments and units on Saturday in Damaturu.

He instructed the director of physical planning to notify contractors who were absent during his visit to resume work immediately.

The rector also stressed the need for better construction standards, ensuring projects’ timely completion.  During his visit to the polytechnic’s central store, Mr Bello ordered its immediate renovation and restocking to revitalise the unit.

He emphasised the importance of equipping the store with essential consumables and necessary working materials.

At the Entrepreneurship Development Department, the Supervising Director, Umar Ngoshe, briefed Mr Bello on the challenges, including a shortage of working materials and inadequate water supply.

In his response, Mr Bello instructed the works and maintenance department to resolve the water supply issue without delay.

The rector also directed offices within the institution to patronise the department’s products and services. These included insecticides, soaps, air fresheners, knitting materials and clothing, as well as vehicle lubrication, diagnostics, and car washing services.

Mr Bello’s tour highlights his commitment to improving infrastructure, resource availability, and service delivery across the institution.
