Ex-lawmaker distributes Sallah clothes to 1,051 orphans in Kano

A former member of the House of Representatives representing Wudil/Garko federal constituency of Kano State, Muhammad Ali-Wudil, has presented Sallah clothes to 1,051 orphans.
Chairman of the Ali-Wudil Foundation, Baffa Alhaji, disclosed this during the distribution ceremony on Saturday in Wudil Local Government Area of the state.
According to him, the ex-lawmaker, who is also a representative at the North-West Development Commission, has been carrying out such gesture for about 27 years.
He further explained that 551 of the beneficiaries were from Wudil LGA, while 500 were from Garko LGA.
Mr Alhaji said the essence of the gesture was to give the beneficiaries a sense of belonging during Sallah to enable them to feel like their peers who still have their parents alive.
He said, “These children have lost their parents; therefore, we find it necessary and very important to see how they can be assisted. May I use this medium to call on wealthy individuals and political office holders to borrow such initiative by assisting the orphans and less privileged to put a smile on their faces with a view to earning Almighty Allah’s favour.”
According to him, clothing is one of the basic human needs, hence the need to extend hands of fellowship to the orphans and vulnerable to make them happy during the festive period.
Mr Alhaji recalled that from the beginning of Ramadan, the orphans had also been benefiting from financial assistance and the distribution of different food items.
In his remarks, the former member, who was represented by Mukhtari Abba, urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the gesture and encouraged them to sustain prayer for prevailing peace and unity in the country.
The Chief Imam of Wudil, Isah Abbas, stressed the Islamic importance of helping orphans and widows.
He reminded Muslims to avoid misusing or personalising whatever belongs to orphans, warning that such actions could lead to divine punishment.
The Chief Imam commended Mr Ali-Wudil for his generosity and called on other politicians and wealthy individuals to emulate the gesture.
The beneficiaries commended the ex-lawmaker for the gesture and assured judicious use of the gifts.
The beneficiaries called on other wealthy individuals, politicians, and governments at all levels to emulate such charitable gestures.
