TAMPAN summons Yomi Fabiyi over controversial ‘Oko Iyabo’ movie

The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) has summoned Yoruba actor Yomi Fabiyi over his ‘Oko Iyabo’ movie.
“The TAMPAN Committee on Ethics, Conflict and Resolution wishes to inform the general public that the association has summoned Mr Yomi Fabiyi, who is the producer/director of the controversial film titled ‘Oko Iyabo’ to appear before it on Thursday, July 11, 2021.
“We hereby implore the general public and the parties concerned to please exercise patience as our eminent association is on top of this issue and will certainly ensure fairness and justice,” the TAMPAN statement said.
Yomi’s associate, Baba Ijesha, was arrested a couple of months ago for defiling a minor and is facing charges in court for rape and child sexual molestation.
In the movie, Baba Ijesha was portrayed as being innocent of the charges against him. The movie attracted a backlash from viewers and celebrities.
“Yomi, I have intentionally stayed off my opinion in recent matters, but what you have done by capitalising on the pain of a molested child is a slap on the mother’s face. I am ashamed I know you,” Tonto Dike said.
“You call yourself a human rights activist, but yet you have subjected a minor and girl to more ridicule and abuse,” said Iyabo Ojo.
