The Federal Road Safety Corps sector command in Ogun has announced plans to monitor and regulate drivers’ conduct on the Sagamu-Benin-Ore highway during the Eid-el-Fitri celebration.

The sector commander, Nasir Mohammed, disclosed this on Friday in Ota, warning that traffic regulations would be strictly enforced.

Mr Mohammed urged motorists to prioritise safety, noting that most road accidents, often resulting in fatalities and injuries, occurred due to violations of traffic laws.

“The FRSC has deployed personnel to strategic locations along the corridor to respond to emergencies and curb reckless driving,” he said.

“We have launched a special operation to ease gridlocks and remove obstructions along the route. Our goal is to ensure that travellers reach their destinations safely through strict enforcement of traffic regulations,” he added.

He appealed to motorists to cooperate with FRSC officials to ensure a smooth and accident-free celebration.

The federal government has declared March 31 and April 1 public holidays for Muslims nationwide to celebrate Eid-el-Fitri.
