Hadejia emirate announces distribution of N1 billion zakat to destitute

The Hadejia Emirate Zakat Committee has collected and distributed alms worth more than N1.072 billion.
This is according to a report presented to the Emir of Hadejia, Adamu Abubakar.
The secretary of the zakat committee, Ismaila Barde, told journalists after presenting the report to the emir that zakat was distributed to 185,000 needy and deserving families in the area in the 2024 to 2025 season (1446 AH).
The zakat, he said, was collected from 27 district areas under the emirate and comprised cash, crops, and livestock.
The emirate noted that in 2024, the committee collected over N300 million.
He said this year that Guri, Auyo, and Jabo districts emerged as the top contributors, with Guri generating N105.7 million, Auyo N104.07 million, and Jabo N100.02 million.
Responding, the emir commended the committee for its outstanding efforts in mobilising eligible persons to give zakat as one of the Islamic pillars.
He urged wealthy individuals and farmers to continue giving out zakat to support the needy.
Appreciating their contributions, the Emir of Hadejia honoured the district heads of the top contributors with awards of excellence.
