The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo, said on Wednesday that private operators must get approval from the government before the establishment of schools.

“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is making efforts to make schools and their environment conducive for learning and encourage private schools.

“Modalities set for registration might look taxing, but they are for our good and for the general development of education.

“There is no shortcut or compromise to the requirements. It is only stakeholders who meet the standards that will be given the approval to establish schools,” she said.

The commissioner called for collaboration and a harmonious relationship between private and public school stakeholders to achieve continuous growth of the education sector.

“It is fundamental that education stakeholders in the private and public sector across Lagos be partners in progress. This is because this administration is giving its best.

“We are building more schools and congestion is drastically reducing in our classrooms,” she said.

The official added that the state government was integrating technology in teaching and learning for better outcomes.

“On the sideline, the structure of futuristic plan of our dream school is on progress in Agege.

“It is made up of containers and will be fully kitted with technological solutions in classrooms and laboratories,” she said.

She added that the state government had introduced policies to help improve pupils characters.

Mrs Adefisayo also said that the government initiated programmes to tackle out-of-school syndrome.

“It is a collective responsibility of stakeholders to discourage street hawking and child abuse,” she said.
