A Jos magistrates’ court on Tuesday sentenced a 22-year-old trader, Nasiru Adam, to three months in prison for snatching a phone from a man driving in traffic.

The magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the charge. However, the magistrate gave the convict an option of a fine of N10,000 or three months in prison.

Prosecutor Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported at the Laramto Police Station on February 19 by Akusuk Lashap, the complainant.

Mr Gokwat said the convict snatched the phone from the man while driving, and the complainant parked his car and chased him, grabbed his hand, but the accused bit him, causing an injury.

He was later arrested, and the phone was recovered.
