Over 5,000 NSCDC operatives to guard national assets in Lagos, Anambra, Edo, Ondo

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps says it has deployed 1,525 personnel to safeguard lives and forestall the vandalisation of critical national assets during the Easter festivities.
Mr Olatunde Maku, the commandant in Anambra, said the deployment was also to protect state and local government assets.
Mr Maku disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
He said the deployment was in line with the recently launched joint Operation Zero Kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.
The commandant added that the personnel would secure places of worship, recreational centres, amusement parks, markets, flashpoints, black spots and other vulnerable areas.
Similarly, NSCDC deployed 1,350 personnel in Edo and 2,250 in Lagos.
“As we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, we urge residents to allow peace to reign and support the state government in its developmental efforts,” Gbenga Agun, NSCDC commandant in Edo, said in Benin on Thursday.
The corps appealed to the public to cooperate with security personnel and share credible information that could help combat criminal activities.
Meanwhile, the FRSC in Ondo has deployed 17 patrol vehicles and two tow vehicles for ease of movement during the Easter celebration.
Samuel Ibitoye, its sector commander in Ondo, said Thursday in Akure that the command also deployed five ambulances for rescue operations, and about 700 officers and 200 special marshals would be deployed to caution against excessive speed on the road.
The commander explained further that mobile courts would also be organised to judge any driver caught violating road traffic rules instantly.
He, therefore, called on drivers to always be patient whenever they were at the wheel and shun anything that could cause road crashes.
