ValueJet to begin direct Lagos-Banjul flight May 15

Nigerian private airline ValueJet has announced plans to begin direct flight operations from Lagos to Banjul, The Gambia, starting May 15.
The airline’s managing director and accountable manager, Omololu Majekodunmi, said this in a statement on Thursday.
Mr Majekodunmi said the initiative was to boost regional trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.
According to him, the new route will provide a vital air link between Nigeria and The Gambia, enhancing access to the latter’s growing tourism industry and fostering stronger economic ties between both nations.
Flights from Lagos to Banjul will depart at 9:00 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays, arriving at 11:30 p.m.
Return flights from Banjul will depart at 12:30 a.m. on Mondays and Fridays, arriving in Lagos at 5:00 a.m.
Mr Majekodunmi said the flights would operate from the new terminal at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, and tickets were already available on the airline’s website.
“The launch of our Lagos-Banjul route is a significant step in ValueJet’s mission to improve connectivity and travel options within West Africa,” he said. “We are proud to help bridge distances and create new opportunities for trade and tourism between Nigeria, The Gambia, and beyond.”
He stated that the airline remained committed to making intra-African travel more accessible and convenient, with plans to expand its network further along the West African coast.
“This new service highlights our commitment to safe, reliable, and convenient air travel across the region,” Mr Majekodunmi added.
