Nasarawa assembly hails Gov Sule’s achievement in education sector

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has lauded Governor Abdullahi Sule’s developmental strides towards improving the standard of education in the state.


The Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Abel Bala, gave the commendation on Thursday when the managements of Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, Lafia College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, and Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute, appeared before the committee on their first quarter 2025 budget assessment.


Mr Bala noted that the administration’s investment in education deserved commendation.


He said that the speaker of the House had directed all standing committees to embark on first-quarter oversight of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).


He noted, “We are happy with your performances; you have done well for the first quarter. We call on you to continue with the good work you are doing and to improve on the standard of education in your institutions. Governor Abdullahi Sule has done much in education, especially at the higher institutions, by providing physical infrastructures, learning materials and a good learning environment.’’


The lawmaker urged the various institutions’ management to continue to adhere strictly to their budgetary provisions.


He assured them of the committee’s support in carrying out their responsibilities.


“The assembly will do all it could within its powers to support you to overcome challenges that may arise in your institutions,” he added.


Earlier, the acting Rector, Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic Lafia,Ibrahim Dauda, appreciated the committee for its support of the institution and called for its sustenance for the development of the school.


On his part, the Executive Director, Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute, Lafia, Daniel Ewuga, appealed for the committee’s support to overcome challenges of insufficient workshops in the institute.


He assured of the institute’s commitment to train youths in vocational and technological programmes.


Also, the Rector, College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Musa Maikefi. commended the committee’s assistance towards creating an enabling environment for teaching and learning in the college.
