The local police on Thursday fired a kill shot at a yet-to-be identified man for wielding a gun at the Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Canada, in an incident that led to a partial lockdown of the airport’s largest terminal.

The Peel Regional Police confirmed that no officers were injured in the incident and tried to restore calm with a “large police presence,” according to a brief statement the security outfit posted on X.

Two police officers fired at the man when he brandished his weapon early Thursday morning before 7:00 a.m. He was parked in a grey SUV at the T1 section of the airport. He was declared dead at the scene.

Six investigators and three forensic experts of the Special Investigations Unit have been assigned to the case to determine motive and whether the deceased was acting alone.

In the interim, the Peel Regional Police said it “is an isolated incident and there are no known threats to public safety.”

Passengers were also told to expect delays as officers cordoned off the shooting area and combed through the airport for clues that might be related to the case.
