The chief of army staff, Olufemi Oluyede, has charged officers and soldiers to explore ingenious and workable ideas for mitigating emerging threats.

Mr Oluyede gave the charge during the Combat Arms Training Week 2025, co-hosted by the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps and Armoured Corps in Bauchi.

This was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday.

The army chief also urged the officers and soldiers to demonstrate purposeful leadership, resilience and unwavering commitment to mission objectives while maximising the available resources.

According to him, these approaches are veritable ways to succeed in ongoing operations.

The army chief said the training week with the theme ‘Strengthening Combat Arms Cooperation in a Joint Environment: A Prerequisite for Success in Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency Operations’ was timely.

He said this was due to the complexity and fluid battlespace in which the army currently operates.

Mr Oluyede added that the success of the Nigerian army operations depended on the combat arms’ ability to harness their strengths in cohesion.

The army chief further charged participants to go beyond doctrinal exercises and proffer ways to enhance the operational effectiveness of troops across theatres of operation.

The commander of the Armoured Corps, Obinna Ajunwa, said the CAT Week was a platform to evaluate and appraise ongoing operations to proffer workable solutions to existential challenges.

Mr Ajunwa said it would further allow participants to review policies and standard operating procedures for improved operational efficiency.
