EFCC arrests socialite, E-Money, for alleged naira abuse, suspect flown to Abuja

Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday, took popular Lagos socialite, Emeka Daniel, popularly known as E-Money, into custody.
The Chief Executive Officer of Emmy Cargoes Nigeria Limited and Five Star Music was nabbed on Tuesday at his residence in Omole, Lagos, for allegedly violating Nigeria’s currency laws.
The socialite was said to have allegedly sprayed naira at a public event, including the United States dollars thereby also violating Nigeria’s Foreign Exchange Act.
Mr Daniel, held at the commission’s Lagos office, is currently being flown to Abuja for questioning as investigation continues.
The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, neither responded to calls made to his mobile nor replied to the text messages from Peoples Gazette seeking comments on the development as of the time this story was filed.
Mr Daniel is however expected to be charged to court upon completion of investigation by the anti-graft agency.
