Panic as explosion rocks bus stop opposite Mogadishu Barracks Abuja

According to the statement, one male victim was rescued at the scene.

An explosion rocked a bus stop opposite the Mogadishu Cantonment in Abuja on Monday, causing panic among people in the area.

The Nigerian Army confirmed the incident in a terse statement on its official X page on Monday evening.

“Explosion At Bus Stop Opposite Mogadishu Cantonment Abuja. Situation Under Control. Details Later,” the Nigerian Army said.

The cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained. 

However, Abuja police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, in a statement also confirmed the incident, adding: “One male victim was rescued at the scene and promptly taken to the hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention.”

 “Upon receipt of the report, officers of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit were immediately deployed to the scene. The affected area was swiftly cordoned off for clearance and analysis to ensure the safety of commuters and residents,” Ms Adeh said.

She added,  “A comprehensive investigation has commenced, including detailed forensic analysis, to ascertain the exact cause and nature of the explosion.”
