Gov. Aiyedatiwa flags off dualisation of 6.7km Akungba-Ikare road

Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has flagged off the dualisation of the 6.7km Akungba Akoko to Ikare Akoko road.
Mr Aiyedatiwa, in his address on Tuesday in Akungba, described the project as a monumental stride towards infrastructural transformation and public safety in the area.
The project is part of activities marking Mr Aiyedatiwa’s 100 days in office.
Mr Aiyedatiwa said that the project symbolised a bold statement of purpose and compassion from his administration.
He said his administration would use every available tool to transform Ondo State into a prime destination for investment, education, tourism, and quality living.
The governor said that the Akungba-Ikare corridor served as a lifeline for the Northern Senatorial District and was critical in connecting Ondo State to adjoining federal highways.
According to the governor, the decision to dualise the road is based on a comprehensive assessment of the region’s need in alignment with the national vision of prosperity of the federal government.
“We are not just building infrastructure; we are building resilience and peace of mind for the future of this senatorial district.”
“This is not just another project being initiated within our 100 days in office; it is a monumental stride in our administration’s journey, a beacon of progress following closely on the heels of other impactful initiatives,” he said.
In his welcome address, the special adviser to the fovernor on infrastructure, lands, and housing, Abiola Olawoye, expressed appreciation to the governor’s commitment to infrastructural development in the state.
Mr Olawoye described the Akungba-Ikare road dualisation project as a significant milestone in the actualisation of the governor’s agenda, which prioritised urban renewal and ease of transportation.
In his goodwill message, the Senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Olajide Ipinsagba, lauded the project, which he described as a milestone in the history of ‘Akokoland’.
Also, Hon. Adefarati Gboyega, representing Akoko South East/South West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, commended Mr Aiyedatiwa for initiating such a visionary and impactful project.
Similarly, the Olubaka of Oka Kingdom, Oba Adebori Adeleye, who spoke on behalf of other traditional rulers in Akoko, appreciated the governor for the project.
