Sallah: FRSC deploys 987 officers in Osun

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Osun State Command, has deployed 987 officers, comprising 565 regular officers and 422 Special Marshals for the Sallah celebration in the state.
This is contained in a statement by the spokesperson for the command, Agnes Ogungbemi, on Wednesday in Osogbo.
Ms Ogungbemi said that the officers had been deployed to strategic locations across the state to ensure safety of lives and property on the highways.
She urged motorists to drive responsibly and cooperate with traffic control personnel throughout the Sallah.
Ms Ogungbemi said that the Osun Sector Commander, Leye Adegboyega, emphasised the need for shared responsibilities among transport stakeholders in the state.
According to her, the sector commander also stressed the need for caution, warning against speeding, reckless driving, and route violation.
She said, “The sector commander advised commercial drivers against overloading and driving under the influence of alcohol and other harmful substances.’’
Mr Ogungbemi also urged commercial drivers to install speed-limiting devices in their vehicles, to minimise accidents on the highway.
“Our operatives and the special marshals will be visible and professional on the roads during the festive period to ensure the safety of all road users in Osun. The special operation is to improve our visibility and enhance road safety through early deployment of personnel and logistics,” she said.
Ms Ogungbemi, however, appealed to motorists to drive with discipline and caution, which was key to preventing avoidable accidents and ensuring a safe celebration for all.
