Nine passengers die, eleven others hospitalised in Jigawa auto crash

A head-on collision involving two Golf 3 saloon vehicles in Kyaramma village, Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State, on Saturday, claimed the lives of nine people.
In a statement by the spokesperson for the state police command in Dutse, Shiisu Adam, said the auto crash, which happened on Saturday, also left eleven others injured.
Mr Adam said, “We regret to inform the public of a tragic motor vehicle accident that occurred earlier today, Saturday, June 7, 2025, at around 0200hrs, in Kyaramma village, Ringim Local Government Area (LGA), Jigawa State.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident involved two golf 3 saloon vehicles with reg no. Kaduna MKA 687 AY, driven by one Adamu Sunusi, of Hadejia LGA, coming from Abuja heading to Gujungu town and golf 3 with reg no. KWL 606 KA, driven by one Bashari Danjummai of Sauna, Nassarawa LGA, Kano State, coming from Hadejia, heading for Kano.
“On reaching Kyaramma village, the vehicles had a head on collision, as a result, nine persons lost their lives while several others were injured to varying degrees,” he stated.
The spokesperson said the Motor Traffic Department (MTD) personnel, upon receiving the report, went to the scene to provide assistance, adding that, “the injured victims were rushed to Ringim General Hospital, where nine passengers, including the two drivers, were pronounced dead by the on-call doctor.”
Noting that a post mortem examination was conducted and corpses released to their relatives for burial, Mr Adam stated that, “Eleven passengers are currently receiving treatment at the hospital and are responding well. Efforts are underway to identify all victims and notify their families.”
Expressing his condolences to the families of the late victims, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Abdullahi, wished those hospitalised a speedy recovery, while he advised drivers to obey traffic rules, avoid speeding, and ensure their vehicles’ roadworthiness to prevent such tragic accidents.
