The Nigerian Forest and Security Service (NFSS) in Kano has said it received 83 complaints from residents in the state in May.

The public relations officer of NFSS, Usman Umar, disclosed this in an interview on Monday in Kano.

Mr Umar said most of the complaints were about animal, phone and motorcycle theft, shop breaking, kidnapping, and robbery, among others.

He said that out of the 83 complaints received, 70 had been treated, while 13 were still pending.

Mr Umar said the service was trying its best to live up to its mandate of preventing crime and other illegal activities in the forests.

The PRO also said NFSS would continue to secure and make the forest a crime-free zone.

He urged the public to report criminal activities in their various communities and surroundings.
