Hours after grilling Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock Church on Tuesday, the police revealed that the so-called man of God had used a stun gun.

Lagos police command disclosed this in a statement posted on Tuesday, hours after grilling the cleric over the object he held in a recent viral video.

“What was recovered from him, (Mr Adefarasin), the gun-like object seen in the viral video, is not a lethal weapon or firearm but a stun gun, which is a prohibited anti-riot equipment,” the police said, hours after the cleric turned himself in for investigation.

While it is not a lethal weapon, Wikipedia noted that stun guns are not entirely risk-free and can, in rare cases, be lethal. The primary mechanism of a stun gun is to incapacitate a person through electrical shock temporarily, but this can lead to serious injury or death in certain circumstances.

The police added, “The pastor (Mr Adefarasin) has been granted bail while investigations continue into the case.”

Last week, Peoples Gazette reported how Mr Adefarasin, who is also the convener of Xperience, a worship concert, pulled out a pistol-like object, warning a car spotter to stop recording his unregistered Range Rover.

Mr Adefarasin had repeatedly denied owning a firearm and pointing such at the car spotter, who he described as an “aggressive content creator.”

The cleric was criticised by Nigerians on social media, who asked him to disclose what he held or show it as evidence to support his denial.
