Ondo: Amotekun arrests prime suspect in murder of APC chair

The Amotekun Corps have arrested a prime suspect in connection with the killing of Nelson Adepoyigi, the abducted chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 5, Ose Local Government Area.
Adetunji Adeleye, commander of the Amotekun Corps, revealed this on Monday while parading 32 suspected criminals arrested across the state.
Mr Adeleye said the prime suspect, whose real identity was still being kept from the public due to ongoing efforts to track his members, was arrested following intel.
“One of the prime suspects of the killing of a ward chairman in Osd has been arrested,” he said.
According to Mr Adeleye, the suspect was led into the forest, where the gang allegedly killed the APC chairman after collecting ransom from his family.
He added that incriminating items, among which were taken from the deceased, were also recovered from the kidnappers’ den.
“He (suspect) had confessed. He had taken us back into the forest where we retrieved some of the items they took from their families,” Mr Adeleye said.
Mr Adepoyigi was kidnapped last month while returning from his farm on the Ifon-Owo road by suspected armed groups and was killed in the custody of the abductors.
The abductors had contacted the families of Mr Adepoyigi to demand a N100 million ransom, but they reportedly raised N5 million.
