NOA summit to focus on sports development

The organisers of the 2025 National Summit of the Nigeria Olympians Association (NOA) say sports development will top the summit’s agenda.
NOA president, Olumide Oyedeji, said in a statement on Monday that top figures from the sporting community would attend the summit.
“The 2025 NOA Summit will hold from July 22 to 24 at Zeus Paradise Hotel, Mabushi, Abuja,” Mr Oyedeji stated.
He said the three-day event would provide a strategic platform for Olympians to discuss the future of sports development in Nigeria.
“This meeting will promote collaboration, experience sharing, and offer solutions to challenges facing Nigerian athletes,” Mr Oyedeji noted.
Mr Oyedeji, a former basketball international, revealed that a congress would also feature at the summit.
“The congress aligns with our constitution and will see the adoption of key operational resolutions,” he explained.
He added that a dinner and awards Night would be held on July 24, themed The Labours of Our Heroes Past.
“The event will honour Olympians and their families, reflecting on achievements and discussing athlete welfare and recognition,” he said.
Mr Oyedeji added that administrators promoting Olympic values and youth sports would also be recognised during the summit.
“Past honourees include Sunday Dare, Abu Gumel, and Philip Shaibu,” he recalled.
He added that the association would also visit selected Abuja orphanages to support and give back to the community.
