Troops kill eight suspected terrorists in Borno

The army however stated that no member of the joint team sustained any casualty.

Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security outfits, on Monday, killed eight suspected terrorists in Manawaji, Gamboru Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State.

In a statement on X, on Tuesday, the army said other terrorists engaging the troops in a gun battle later fled, while weapons they left behind were recovered.

The army said, “At about 1730hrs on 30 June 2025, brave troops of Operation Hadin Kai on joint fighting patrol with elements of Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and Hybrid Forces (HF) made contact with Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists at Manawaji in Gamboru Ngala LGA of Borno State.”

It also stated that, “Troops successfully attacked and eliminated 8 terrorists during the fierce firefight. Several weapons and ammunition of the dead and fleeing terrorists were also recovered.”

The army however stated that no member of the joint team sustained any casualty, adding that the general security situation in the area remains calm but fluid.
