Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB) has the potential to transform the basic education in the state, an official disclosed.

Nasarawa State Commissioner for Water Resources, Mohammed Muluku, stated this when he paid a congratulatory visit to the new NSUBEB Executive Chairman, Kassim Mohammed, on Wednesday in Lafia.

The commissioner said that the appointment of Mr Mohammed was well deserved and a testament to the level of confidence reposed in him by Governor Abdullahi Sule.

“I have confidence in your competence, determination, and preparedness to revive the basic education in the state. I am here to congratulate you on your appointment as the new NSUBEB chairman. I want to assure you of my support and prayers to succeed in your new assignment,” the commissioner said.

Mr Muluku advised Mr Mohammed to use his experience as a former legislator to reposition the public primary school system and move it to the next level of development.

Responding, the NSUBEB boss appreciated the commissioner for the visit and assured him that he would do his best to transform primary schools in the state.

The executive chairman revealed that he had initiated reforms aimed at transforming the system, including addressing truancy among teachers.

“In addition to renovating dilapidated primary school structures and redeploying some administrative staff to classrooms as teachers to strengthen the teaching workforce,” he said.

The NSUBEB boss solicited the support of all stakeholders to enable him to successfully deliver the mandate for the good of all.
