Hooligans in Abuja have breached the NYSC camp in Abuja’s Kubwa district, witnesses told Peoples Gazette.

The mob broke into the camp and started looting items from mattress to food, witnesses said.

The police officers near the scene fled after being overwhelmed by the thugs, who also threatened to harm them, a witness said, saying a reinforcement had been called.

The camp in Kubwa has served as orientation facilities for members of the youth corps for years, but its security has been largely neglected, a witness complained.

Peoples Gazette has reached out to the NYSC and police for comments about the raid, which comes amidst nationwide looting of warehouses and private residences for items ranging from pandemic relief materials to home and industrial appliances.
