2027 Presidency: Peter Obi intensifies publicity blitz, donates millions to Islamic institutes in Kaduna
Peter Obi, former Anambra governor and opposition politician, has donated millions of naira to Islamic schools in Kaduna as he intensifies his publicity blitz ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Mr Obi, who has declared to run again in the next presidential election, has joined other opposition figures in a coalition to wrest power from President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress.
In a statement on Wednesday, the opposition politician explained that he continued to show his support and encouragement for critical areas of human development in society through a visit to four institutions in Kaduna.
While explaining that his visit was in line with his unwavering commitment to investing in education, healthcare, and human capital development, Mr Obi revealed that he visited the Muhammad Sambo Memorial Islamic Institute, founded by Sheikh Yusuf Sambo Rigachukwu and gave financial support.
“I then visited the Madarasatul Hidayyatul Auladi Muslimima Almajiri School in Kawo, where I have previously visited about five times to assist the school’s developmental projects and studies.
“I gave an additional donation of ₦5 million, as I have always insisted that no child deserves to be left behind, when it comes to education, and no matter their location, we can take education to them, as this is the key index of pulling our people out of poverty,” said the Anambra politician who has been ratcheting up his tour across the country to demonstrate he is a bona fide national politician even though from the South-East region.
Mr Obi added, “After that, I proceeded to Womenhood College of Health Sciences and Technology, Kaduna, where I also donated ₦5 million, recognising the critical role the institution plays in training and empowering women in health-related fields, especially in our rural communities.
“Finally, I visited St. Gerald’s College of Nursing Sciences and gave ₦10 million in support to assist their efforts in building competent and compassionate nurses. While speaking to the students, I emphasised that when we invest in education and healthcare, we’re not just building schools or hospitals, we are building the future of a secure, productive, and united Nigeria.”
In June, the former presidential candidate visited Niger in the Mokwa LGA and donated 20 million to victims of flood.
