Police arraign man, 22, for allegedly receiving stolen phone

The police on Thursday arraigned Michael Jacob, 22, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly receiving a stolen phone.

Jacob, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of receiving stolen phone, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, ASP Musbau Lawal, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on June 4 at 1.40 p.m. at Sabo area of Ibadan.

Mr Lawal said the defendant received an iPhone worth N110, 000, knowing that the phone was stolen.

He said the offence contravened Section 427 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Olaolu Olanipekun granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until Aug. 5 for mention.
