Niger govt inaugurates committee on livestock production

The Niger government has inaugurated a 22-member livestock development committee to drive agricultural transformation and sustainable development in the state.
Abubakar Usman, secretary to the Niger government, inaugurated the committee in Minna on Friday.
He emphasised the state government’s commitment to agricultural development, saying the Governor Umaru Bago-led administration remains committed to supporting the initiative.
Mr Usman urges committee members to leverage their wealth of experience, dedication and passion for service to drive impactful initiatives that would revolutionise the state livestock sector.
He said the committee’s work aligned with the state agenda to diversify the economy, create jobs and ensure food security.
The SSG expressed confidence that the committee’s efforts would help boost livestock farming, disease control and value chain development.
In his remarks, the committee chairman, Umar Rebe, Commissioner for Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs, promised that members would leverage their expertise, dedication and creativity to achieve the objectives.
Also speaking, Jonathan Wasa, permanent secretary and committee secretary, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and pledged to work diligently to achieve the set goals.
He assured the government of members’ commitment to fostering innovation, collaboration, and best practices in livestock management.
The committee is expected to focus on strategic interventions to make the state a leader in livestock production and agribusiness.
