King Charles to host Trump, wife for second state visit in September

The United Kingdom Royal Family has announced that King Charles III will host the United States President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, in an official three-day state visit in September 2025.
“The President of the United States of America, President Donald J. Trump, accompanied by the First Lady Mrs. Melania Trump, will be hosted by His Majesty The King for a State Visit to the United Kingdom from 17th September to 19th September 2025,” the Royal Family said in a statement on Monday.
Monday’s formal announcement came months after UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer first informed Mr Trump of King Charles’ intention to host the American leader for a second state visit during his trip to the White House in February this year.
The visit will mark Mr Trump’s first trip to the UK since his return to office in January. His most recent visit to the UK was close to six years ago when he attended the NATO summit in London in December 2019.
“He should expect a warm reception because he really does love Britain. He hugely admires it,” said Peter Mandelson, the British ambassador to the U.S. regarding the upcoming visit. “He trusts Keir Starmer. It’s not a question of expressing our gratitude.”
He added, “My lodestar here is to demonstrate respect, not sycophancy. I don’t think the administration has any problem with that.”
