Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has relaxed the 24-hour curfew imposed on Lamurde Local Government Area over the recent communal clash in the area from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm daily.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Yola.
The curfew was imposed on the council area on Friday.
He said following a thorough assessment of the security situation in the area, Fintiri had directed the relaxation of the 24-hour curfew imposed on the area.
He said, “As of now, residents are allowed to move freely from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm daily.’’
The governor urged residents to take advantage of this relaxation to go about their daily activities while maintaining peace and harmony.
He said that living in peace and understanding were crucial for the overall development of the area and the state.
Mr Fintiri further directed security agencies to maintain 24-hour surveillance in the area.
“This measure is part of the government’s efforts to mitigate further occurrences of crisis and restore lasting peace.
