Senator Shehu Sani has warned Nigeria leaders including President Bola Tinubu, governors and others, to learn from the vile comments pouring out from citizens since the demise of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mr Sani, in a post on X on Tuesday, said present and future  political leaders should learn from the unkind comments trailing the passing of Mr Buhari in the past two days.

“The present and future crop of Nigerian leaders should take lessons from the wave of unrefined emotions of Nigerians in the last 48hours,” Mr Sani said.

The former senator, who berated Mr Buhari as a  failure during his lifetime, said the new generation of Nigerians are bitter, angry and unforgiving toward their leaders.

“A new generation of retributive citizens have evolved: unrestrained in their anger, unfiltered in their bitterness and unforgiving in their souls,” Mr Sani said.

A former military dictator and two-term democratically elected president between 2015-2023, Mr Buhari died on July 13 in a London hospital at 82.

His demise sparked reactions from Nigerians, many who defined his legacy by the economic hardship, disregard for rule of law, human rights abuses and widespread killings that characterised his administration.
