The Zamfara government has urged business owners to adopt modern innovations to fast-track economic growth and development across the state.

Deputy Governor Mani Mummuni made the call during a town hall meeting with stakeholders on the State Action on Business Enabling Reforms, organised by PEBEC on Monday in Gusau.

“We all know PEBEC was established to oversee Nigerian business environment reforms,” Mr Mummuni said.

He noted the initiative has a dual mandate to remove bureaucratic constraints and improve citizens’ perception of doing business in Nigeria.

Mr Mummuni said the Zamfara government had embraced the Federal Government’s SABER initiative.

He added that a State Ease of Doing Business Council had been formed to oversee the implementation of all related reform programmes. The deputy governor explained that the state had amended several business laws and enacted new ones through legislation or executive orders, particularly in land administration.

Other reforms, he noted, include a simplified tax regime, infrastructure upgrades, waivers, business incentives, and improved systems for resolving commercial disputes.

“We established five small claims courts and practical court directives to boost business operations in the state,” he said.

He stressed that Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration welcomed all initiatives aligned with citizens’ needs and aspirations.

“All these efforts are geared towards SABER domestication,” Mr Mummuni added.

He urged the people to pray for peace and security in the state, region, and the country as a whole.

Additionally, the PEBEC focal person in Zamfara, Sani Bukkuyum, urged stakeholders to implement all agreed-upon solutions and decisions.

Mr Bukkuyum, also the permanent secretary at the Ministry of Budget and Planning, pledged ongoing support for capacity building and inclusive economic development.

“Let us make Zamfara a forward-looking state where businesses thrive and development is visible,” he said.

Additionally, Aminu Guraguri, the permanent secretary at the Ministry of Commerce, stated that Zamfara is rich in both human and natural resources. He urged the government to adopt policies, reforms, and partnerships to unlock the state’s full economic potential.

Mr Guraguri also called for more proactive actions to ease doing business, eliminate bureaucratic delays, and boost investor confidence.
